Most of Reservoir Media’s revenue comes from music publishing: the rights to songs themselves, distinct from particular recordings. It acquires ownership or administration rights from songwriters and other rights holders, then promotes the songs and arranges their use. Streaming services, broadcasters and producers of films and advertisements pay for those uses, often through royalty-collection organizations. Reservoir retains its contractual share and pays the portions owed to songwriters and other rights holders.
Recorded music is its second major business, mainly built around existing recordings rather than new artist releases. Its labels include Chrysalis Records and Tommy Boy Music. It distributes recordings to services including Amazon, Apple, TikTok and YouTube, sells physical releases and licenses recordings for screen productions. Digital use supplies most revenue in both publishing and recorded music.
The business depends on continued use of its music and access to a small number of leading digital services, which limits its pricing power. One customer contributes a notable share of revenue across both main businesses. Some publishing royalty rates are governed by law or industry-wide processes rather than freely negotiated. Rights also have contractual limits, and U.S. authors or heirs can terminate certain copyright grants after a statutory period.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Reservoir’s results hinge on streaming growth, music royalty rates and catalog acquisitions; Universal Music Group is an important publishing and recorded-music rival missing from this list.
Warner Music Group competes with Reservoir for songwriters, artists and catalog rights; both earn money by letting music services and other users use their compositions and recordings. Watch Warner’s music publishing revenue for a view of the business Reservoir competes in, rather than relying on Warner’s total revenue, which is mostly recorded music.
Sony’s music businesses compete with Reservoir to secure creator and catalog rights and earn money by licensing compositions and recordings to music users. Watch Sony’s music publishing and recorded-music results rather than its group totals, which also include games, pictures and image sensors.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed’s decision tracks the direction of U.S. policy rates; because most Reservoir borrowings have variable rates, higher rates can raise interest costs and leave less cash for operations and catalog acquisitions.

If it comes in above expectations
If the Fed’s rate decision is higher than expected, interest costs on Reservoir’s variable-rate borrowings may rise, leaving less operating cash for catalog acquisitions.
If it comes in below expectations
If the Fed’s rate decision is lower than expected, interest costs on Reservoir’s variable-rate borrowings may fall, leaving more operating cash available for catalog acquisitions.
Reservoir Media, Inc. earningsThis company
Reservoir Media earns most of its revenue from music publishing and recorded-music rights, and this report will show whether income from licensing and digital use is growing without squeezing the profit those businesses generate.
Read Music Publishing and Recorded Music revenue alongside each segment's OIBDA margin. OIBDA is operating income before depreciation and amortization. If revenue grows in both businesses while margins hold, licensing and digital-use income is supporting day-to-day operating costs; if revenue stalls or margins fall, that growth is not carrying through to operating earnings, and the segment figures show where the strain lies.
Warner Music Group Corp. earningsWMG
Warner Music Group competes with Reservoir Media for songwriters and catalogs, and its music publishing results will show how strongly publishers are monetizing compositions in the market they share.
Compare Warner Music Group's Music Publishing revenue with the same period a year earlier; do not use group revenue as a substitute. Growth means Warner is bringing in more from licensing compositions, showing stronger monetization in this market and potentially sharpening its contest for songwriters and catalogs. A decline points to weaker monetization and may ease that competitive pressure, but it does not establish that Reservoir's revenue moved the same way. Warner's catalog mix and acquisitions can also affect its revenue.
