Company

Company overview

Rain Enhancement Technologies Holdco, Inc. (RET) is developing WETA, a ground-based platform that uses atmospheric ionization to try to increase rain and snowfall when weather conditions are suitable. It is intended to enhance precipitation already forming, not create rain regardless of the weather. RET seeks to serve government and commercial clients that need additional water.

The planned business is to install, own and operate systems, with several clients paying for prioritized service from the same installation through multi-year contracts. That model is not yet established: deployments have mainly supported research, pilots and demonstrations, rather than revenue-generating customer contracts. RET has received payment from Utah’s Division of Water Resources for installation support, but has not generated significant operating revenue.

Commercialization depends on proving that WETA produces repeatable precipitation benefits across locations and weather conditions, and turning those results into paying contracts. RET also needs financing to continue development and deployment. Operations in regulated areas require government authorizations and permits, and weather-modification restrictions can limit where it operates.
