Company

Company overview

PolyPid focuses on D-PLEX100, a drug candidate intended to prevent surgical-site infections, particularly after abdominal surgery. Its PLEX technology encloses medication in polymer and lipid layers that gradually break down, releasing the drug at the application site over time. Most of its development spending goes toward D-PLEX100.

The company has no approved product and has never generated product-sales revenue. It plans to reach hospitals through pharmaceutical partners rather than its own sales organization. Advanz holds exclusive commercialization rights for D-PLEX100 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. It has paid PolyPid an upfront license payment, and further payments depend on development and commercial-sales milestones. PolyPid is responsible for obtaining marketing authorization and plans to manufacture the product at its own Israeli facility.

The business depends on D-PLEX100 producing clinical evidence sufficient for regulatory approval, followed by hospital adoption and adequate insurance or government reimbursement. Until product sales can support operations, PolyPid needs additional financing to continue development and commercialization work. Israeli grant rules also require prior approval to transfer or license supported know-how, or move related manufacturing rights, outside Israel.
