Company

Company overview

Perrigo supplies products consumers use for everyday health needs, including nonprescription medicines and infant formula. Most revenue comes from the U.S. and Canada, where it develops and manufactures products mainly sold under retailers’ own labels. Retailers buy these alternatives to nationally advertised brands at lower costs, allowing them to offer lower consumer prices while keeping higher margins. Perrigo also sells its own brands, including Opill.

Outside the U.S. and Canada, the business centers on Europe and primarily sells branded products, including Compeed, ellaOne and Solpadeine. Pharmacies, retailers and wholesalers buy these products, with advertising and in-store promotion supporting consumer demand. Store-brand sales provide cash that Perrigo uses to invest in its own brands.

Walmart is a significant customer, and the ten largest customers together account for nearly half of sales. U.S. store-brand sales depend heavily on retailers’ promotions. Perrigo must meet manufacturing and product requirements; regulated U.S. generic medicines must demonstrate equivalence to their branded counterparts, while third-party patents and regulatory exclusivity can delay market entry.

Perrigo’s results hinge on OTC consumption, store-brand share gains and infant-formula demand, with Reckitt Benckiser, Bayer and Opella also important branded rivals to watch.

  • Haleon competes with Perrigo for consumer spending on oral care, pain relief, respiratory and digestive health, supplements and therapeutic skin care. Its oral-care and digestive-health sales are worth watching alongside Perrigo’s sales in those categories.

  • Kenvue’s branded pain, allergy, oral-care, skin-care and nicotine-replacement products compete for consumers with Perrigo’s self-care products. Nicorette is a particularly direct comparison with Perrigo’s NiQuitin in products that help people quit smoking.

  • Prestige Consumer Healthcare Inc. competes with Perrigo for North American purchases of nonprescription healthcare products through mass retailers, drugstores and online channels, selling branded products against Perrigo’s mainly store-brand offering. Its North American OTC healthcare revenue is the closest line to watch, rather than its international business.

  • Dr. Reddy’s competes with Perrigo to supply retailers with store-brand nonprescription medicines and to sell nicotine-replacement products outside the United States. Watch its Nicotinell-led quit-smoking portfolio against Perrigo’s NiQuitin and private-label products.

  • Abbott’s nutrition business competes with Perrigo for infant-formula purchases, so formula demand and competing suppliers’ availability matter to both. Watch Abbott’s formula supply news: infant formula drove the decline in Perrigo’s Americas nutrition sales in 2025.

  • Procter & Gamble’s consumer-health brands compete with Perrigo’s self-care products for shoppers’ retail spending. Watch its healthcare business rather than overall sales, which also include a broad range of everyday-use products.

  • Walmart buys Perrigo products to sell to shoppers and accounted for 12.9% of Perrigo’s consolidated net sales in 2025, making its purchasing decisions directly important to Perrigo. Watch Walmart’s store-brand strategy, since Perrigo mainly supplies retailers’ own brands in the U.S. and Canada.
