Company overview

Progyny helps primarily U.S. employers provide fertility care to employees and covered dependents. Employers buy coverage through Smart Cycle, which bundles testing and treatment rather than covering each procedure separately. Members choose clinics in Progyny’s specialist network and receive guidance from its care advocates. Progyny bills clients bundled treatment rates that include clinical services and care management; fertility benefits supply the larger share of revenue.

Clients can add Progyny Rx, which arranges fertility medications through specialty pharmacies and supports members using them. Clients pay for medications dispensed under authorized treatment, making pharmacy services the other substantial revenue source. Most fertility clients also pay a small recurring fee for member education and guidance, but revenue mainly follows actual treatment and medication use.

The business depends on employers maintaining coverage, members using their benefits, and continued access to specialist clinics and timely medication deliveries. Technology-industry clients contribute a significant share of revenue. Coverage design and the mix of treatments also affect sales. Medical decisions remain with providers, not Progyny. Its pharmacy-benefit operations must comply with rules on pricing, disclosures and rebates, including requirements to pass rebates to consumers; state reproductive-health laws can also limit available treatments and employer-covered benefits.
