Company

Company overview

Pro-Dex supplies medical-device manufacturers with handheld surgical drivers and shavers that can withstand steam sterilization. Customers commission custom devices or have Pro-Dex manufacture products they have designed, primarily under exclusive development and supply agreements. Device sales provide most revenue; Pro-Dex also charges for design and prototype work and repairs.

The business depends heavily on a few customers, with one customer supplying most revenue through device purchases and repairs. Its medical-device manufacturing and distribution must meet U.S. regulatory requirements; the Food and Drug Administration can prohibit noncompliant products or stop noncompliant production processes.

Its acquired subsidiary, Advanced Precision Machining (APM), makes components for Pro-Dex and sells precision-machined parts and assemblies to aerospace and defense customers. This adds a smaller revenue source and subjects the business to export controls restricting access to controlled products and technical data.

Pro-Dex’s results hinge more on orders and repairs for its unnamed largest customer, which accounted for 78% of fiscal 2026 sales, than on broad medical-device industry growth.

  • Zimmer Biomet serves the same orthopedic, craniomaxillofacial and thoracic surgical markets as Pro-Dex, which makes powered surgical drivers and shavers mainly for medical-device manufacturers. Demand for Zimmer Biomet’s products in those fields offers a window into the surgical markets behind Pro-Dex’s business.
