Company

Company overview

Odysight.ai Inc. helps businesses and government agencies inspect critical equipment components in places that are difficult to reach or exposed to harsh conditions. Its small visual sensors send images to software that uses artificial intelligence to detect abnormalities and help plan maintenance. Customers buy kits containing sensors, a processing unit and embedded software; the company also earns revenue from customization and development services. Multi-year software support subscriptions are a possible future revenue source, not an established recurring business.

The company now focuses on aerospace, where it generates commercial revenue, while moving industrial and transportation projects from demonstrations toward commercial deliveries. Historically, most revenue came from medical customers. Named customers include the Israeli Air Force, NASA and Israel Railways. Revenue depends heavily on a small customer base: three customers account for almost all sales.

Some customer agreements restrict sales of particular products to other buyers or limit use of related intellectual property, including agreements with the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Exports from Israel may require government authorization. Moving certain government-funded technology or manufacturing rights outside Israel also requires approval from the Israeli Innovation Authority.

Odysight.ai’s results hinge on a few customers and turning aerospace orders into revenue, especially the unnamed defense contractor behind more than $10 million of its remaining performance obligations.

  • Elbit Systems gives Odysight.ai a collaboration link to aircraft defense systems: Elbit supplies and integrates those systems for customers, while Odysight.ai sells visual monitoring for critical components, but the disclosure does not establish Elbit as a customer. Watch Elbit’s aerospace business, particularly systems installed on new aircraft and upgrades to existing ones, for a read on the spending environment around Odysight.ai.

  • Samsara and Odysight.ai both depend on businesses adopting data-driven monitoring of physical assets: Samsara charges customers subscriptions to connect assets to cloud analytics, while Odysight.ai sells visual sensors and analytics to monitor component condition. Watch customers’ expansion of Samsara platform subscriptions for a sign of willingness to spend on this kind of monitoring as Odysight.ai moves its industrial and transportation projects toward commercial deliveries.
