Company

Company overview

NovaBridge Biosciences develops potential treatments for cancer and eye diseases, including wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema. Its drug candidates include givastomig and VIS-101. It advances these programs through partnerships and specialized subsidiaries, including Visara, which was established to obtain the VIS-101 license.

The company has no medicines approved for sale and has not generated product-sales revenue. Before bringing a drug to market, it expects licensing to provide most of its revenue: partners would pay for rights to research, develop and commercially use its drug candidates. It may license selected rights after early clinical validation while retaining rights in some markets. Funding has come mainly from share offerings and past licensing and collaboration payments.

The business depends on obtaining further funding and showing that its candidates are safe and effective enough to win regulatory approval before they can be sold. Outside providers conduct studies and trials and manufacture drug supplies. NovaBridge also needs partners or its own commercial capabilities to bring any approved medicines to market; it currently has no sales or distribution operation.

NovaBridge’s results hinge on clinical validation and licensing of its cancer and eye-disease drug candidates, with ABL Bio a key partner developing bispecific antibodies and sharing rights outside Greater China and South Korea.

  • NovaBridge relies on Bristol-Myers Squibb to supply nivolumab free of charge for trials with its cancer drug candidate givastomig and to license its use in developing and potentially marketing the combination. Bristol-Myers Squibb sells medicines for serious diseases, but NovaBridge pays for and runs this multinational Phase 1 trial itself; watch the combination’s clinical results.

  • BioAge Labs, Inc. is developing BGE-102 for diabetic macular edema, putting it in the same potential treatment market as NovaBridge’s eye-disease pipeline. BioAge has no approved products or product-sales revenue yet; its BGE-102 proof-of-concept results in these patients are the development to watch for NovaBridge’s competitive outlook.
