Mercury Systems makes electronics that process sensor and radar data and provide computing for military and aerospace systems. Defense prime contractors buy its components and subsystems to incorporate into larger platforms, including electronic warfare systems and aircraft avionics. It also sells directly to governments and to commercial aircraft manufacturers, but almost all revenue comes from government defense work, mainly through prime contractors.
The company develops standard products that it can sell across customers and missions, and works with customers on solutions tailored to specific mission requirements. These custom development projects can lead to years of production and technology updates. Selling pre-integrated subsystems also means customers have less assembly and integration work to do themselves.
RTX, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman account for a substantial share of sales. The business depends on government program funding and on securing critical components, some available from only one or a few suppliers. U.S. export controls require authorization for certain international sales and transfers of technology to foreign persons, limiting where and to whom Mercury can sell.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Mercury Systems’ results hinge on defense-electronics program execution and major contractors’ orders, especially RTX, its largest customer at 15% of fiscal 2026 revenue but absent from this list.
Curtiss-Wright competes with Mercury Systems to supply aerospace and military customers with computers built for harsh conditions and defense-electronics subsystems.
Leonardo DRS competes with Mercury Systems to sell defense computing and electronic-warfare technology into overlapping military programs, serving U.S. national-security customers and allied forces. Its sensing and network-computing business is the part to watch for competition with Mercury’s processing electronics.
Mercury Systems depends on Lockheed Martin’s purchases of defense electronics, which supplied 11% of Mercury’s fiscal 2026 revenue; Lockheed sells aerospace and defense systems mainly to U.S. government agencies and allies. Watch for technical or financial difficulties on its defense programs, which can affect Mercury’s sales.
Northrop Grumman’s purchases of Mercury Systems’ defense electronics supplied 10% of Mercury’s fiscal 2026 revenue; Northrop earns most of its business from long-term development, production and support contracts with U.S. defense and intelligence customers. Changes in those programs matter because program duration can make Mercury’s customer sales fluctuate from year to year.
L3Harris buys Mercury Systems’ defense electronics and supplied 12% of Mercury’s fiscal 2024 revenue, making it a customer to watch rather than just another defense stock. L3Harris also performs U.S. government work under contracts that reimburse allowable costs and pay a fee as work progresses.
Kratos competes with Mercury Systems for military customers’ and defense contractors’ spending on microwave electronics and command-and-control systems. Watch its investment in these products and its emphasis on rapid, low-cost production—not just its unmanned aircraft business.
TTM Technologies competes with Mercury Systems to supply aerospace and defense customers with radio-frequency assemblies, microelectronics and mission systems. Its aerospace-and-defense business is the relevant part to watch, rather than its commercial circuit-board operations.
Frequency Electronics competes with Mercury Systems in specialized electronics for secure communications, command-and-control and electronic warfare, selling precision timing and frequency-control equipment to commercial and U.S. government customers. Its non-space products for these applications are the closer competitive signal, rather than satellite timing equipment.
Ducommun and Mercury Systems compete for overlapping aerospace and defense equipment makers’ purchases of high-reliability electronic assemblies and microwave components. Watch Ducommun’s Electronic Systems business, including microwave switches and filters, rather than its aircraft structures business.
Lockheed Martin Corp. earningsLMT
Lockheed Martin’s report can show whether its defense programs are progressing, a factor in its purchases of Mercury Systems electronics.
Watch progress on Lockheed Martin’s defense programs and any reported technical or financial difficulties. Smooth execution would support the case for continued purchases of Mercury Systems electronics; problems that hold up programs could delay or reduce those purchases. Lockheed represented 11% of Mercury’s fiscal 2026 revenue, but a customer’s program results indicate demand risk, not a confirmed change in Mercury’s revenue. The takeaway is whether this major customer’s program execution supports continued buying.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Mercury Systems’ Fed-linked borrowing costs can change with interest rates, affecting what it pays on its floating-rate revolver and the cash and earnings left after interest.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
Higher rates can raise interest expense on Mercury Systems’ floating-rate revolver, leaving less cash from operations and reducing earnings.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower rates can ease interest expense on Mercury Systems’ floating-rate revolver, leaving more cash from operations and supporting earnings.
Leonardo DRS, Inc. earningsDRS
Leonardo DRS’s report can help distinguish broader demand for defense computing and electronic warfare from competition for programs that overlap with Mercury Systems.
Focus on Leonardo DRS’s sensing and network-computing business and any reported progress or awards in overlapping military programs. Growth in those activities together with evidence of wins in overlapping programs would point more strongly to competition for opportunities Mercury serves. Growth without that evidence could instead reflect a larger market, not business lost by Mercury. The takeaway is whether the report signals shared demand or a rival gaining ground in the same programs.
Mercury Systems Inc. earningsThis company
Mercury Systems’ report will show whether it can turn customer demand into sales without giving back the gains in manufacturing and delivery costs.
Read revenue growth alongside gross margin and cash from operations. Gross margin is the share of revenue left after direct production costs. Rising revenue with a stronger gross margin and steady operating cash would show Mercury is selling more while making and delivering products more effectively. If revenue rises but margin or operating cash weakens, production, supply, or delivery costs may be consuming the gains. The conclusion is whether growth is becoming stronger business results.
