Company

Company overview

Mineralys Therapeutics is working to bring its only drug candidate, lorundrostat, to market. It has submitted an application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration but has not received regulatory approval, so it cannot yet sell the drug. Its business depends entirely on lorundrostat reaching approval and commercialization. Future sales would also depend on doctors and patients adopting it and government programs and private insurers providing coverage and adequate reimbursement.

The company holds an exclusive license from Tanabe to develop and commercialize lorundrostat. Keeping that license is essential to the business; commercial sales would trigger milestone and royalty payments to Tanabe. The agreement also limits when Mineralys may commercialize a competing product without Tanabe’s consent. Mineralys relies on outside manufacturers to produce lorundrostat rather than operating its own factories.

With no revenue, Mineralys has funded its work by raising capital from investors. It expects to seek further funding through share sales, borrowing or arrangements such as collaborations and licenses until product sales can support its cash needs.

Mineralys’s prospects hinge on lorundrostat’s clinical and commercial success against hypertension and kidney-disease rivals, including Boehringer Ingelheim, which is not on this list.

  • AstraZeneca competes with Mineralys for trial participants and ultimately the same hypertension and kidney-disease treatment market; both develop drugs that block aldosterone production, called aldosterone synthase inhibitors. Watch AstraZeneca’s large hypertension and chronic kidney disease trials, which could make it harder for Mineralys to recruit patients.

  • Apnimed’s oral drug candidate Oxnimbi competes for the same adult obstructive sleep apnea patients that Mineralys’s sleep-apnea program targets. Oxnimbi is not yet approved or generating product sales; its FDA review has a February 28, 2027 target decision date, a milestone to watch for this competing treatment.

  • Incannex Healthcare competes with Mineralys in developing drugs for obstructive sleep apnea, but this overlap covers only part of Mineralys’s development opportunity. Incannex has no marketed products, so its sleep-apnea drug development progress—not product sales—is what matters for this rivalry.

Mineralys has no product sales, so its report shows whether cash use and research spending leave it able to keep advancing lorundrostat, its sole drug candidate.
