Spectral AI is developing DeepView to help clinicians assess whether burn wounds will heal. The system captures wound images across several wavelengths of light, then uses AI software to distinguish tissue predicted to heal from tissue predicted not to heal. Burns are its current focus.
The company has not earned revenue from product sales or licensing. Almost all revenue comes from BARDA, a U.S. government agency that funds DeepView research, testing and development, with smaller contributions from other government awards. Payments depend on reimbursable research spending and, for some awards, completed milestones. Continued funding also depends on contract milestones and government decisions to exercise further options.
After obtaining the necessary market authorizations, Spectral AI plans to sell DeepView devices to hospitals and other care sites and charge software licensing fees that include maintenance, image hosting and algorithm updates. U.S. marketing requires FDA De Novo authorization, and the company may promote only regulator-permitted uses. Commercial sales would also depend on clinicians adopting the system.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Spectral AI’s results currently hinge on BARDA-funded development, while future DeepView product revenue depends on regulatory authorization and burn-center adoption.
Avita Medical, Inc. offers a read on the specialist burn-care sites Spectral AI hopes to sell to: AVITA sells RECELL to treat thermal burns, while Spectral AI is developing DeepView to assess burn healing. Watch RECELL adoption at those sites for signs of their willingness to use new burn-care technology, though DeepView still needs regulatory authorization.

Avita Medical’s report will show RECELL adoption at specialist burn-care sites, offering Spectral AI a read on whether those sites are willing to use new burn-care technology.
Watch whether sales associated with RECELL strengthen or weaken. Stronger sales would suggest specialist sites are adopting this burn treatment, a favorable but indirect signal for Spectral AI as it seeks to offer DeepView to those sites. Weaker sales would suggest a harder adoption environment; RECELL is a treatment, however, so its sales cannot establish whether clinicians will adopt DeepView to assess wound healing.

Spectral AI relies mainly on U.S. government contracts to fund DeepView development, and this report will show how changes in contract work affect research revenue and gross profit.
Read research and development revenue alongside gross margin, the share of revenue left after cost of revenue. Revenue recovering while the margin holds would show more contract work without weaker project economics. Both falling would point to less billable development work and less room to cover the costs of developing DeepView.
