Company

Company overview

LOBO Technologies buys components from outside suppliers and assembles electric vehicles at factories in Tianjin and Wuxi. It sells vehicles to dealers in China and overseas and through Alibaba’s international platform. Electric bicycles bring in most of its revenue, followed by three-wheeled electric vehicles; it also sells batteries, parts and four-wheeled vehicles such as golf carts.

The business depends on dealers to distribute products and provide customer service, and on suppliers to deliver key components such as batteries and motors. Two customers account for a substantial share of sales, with one contributing notably more than the other. To sell electric bicycles and motorcycles in China, LOBO must meet applicable safety standards and obtain and maintain China Compulsory Certification; products without the required certification cannot be sold there.

Know what’s buried in LOBO’s filings before you buy

The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.

LOBO’s results depend chiefly on international dealers’ demand for e-bicycles and electric tricycles, which battery-focused EZGO reflects only indirectly.

  • EZGO’s battery-pack sales and LOBO’s electric-vehicle and battery sales share exposure to demand for light electric mobility. Watch EZGO’s battery-pack revenue for an indirect signal of that demand, rather than e-bicycle sales: EZGO has stopped making and selling e-bicycles.
