Company

Company overview

LiqTech International supplies equipment that industrial operators, commercial pools and ships use to clean water and other liquids. It makes silicon-carbide ceramic membranes and builds them into complete filtration systems. Systems and aftermarket services are its largest revenue source. Customers buy directly or through intermediaries, including system integrators that incorporate LiqTech’s membranes into larger installations.

The company also sells membranes and filters separately, including filters that capture soot from diesel-engine exhaust. A separate business makes engineered plastic parts for industrial customers. LiqTech is increasing its focus on maintenance agreements and spare parts for customers and partners with installed filtration systems.

A small group of customers accounts for a significant share of sales, but major customers do not commit to firm long-term purchase volumes. In some regulated applications, system integrators must secure approval for their systems and components, which takes substantial time and expense. Demand in marine and transportation markets also depends in part on emissions rules and their enforcement.

LiqTech's results depend on pool and industrial water-treatment orders and adoption of its marine and oil-and-gas filtration systems bringing enough work to its factories to improve margins.
