Company

Company overview

Jiuzi Holdings supplies batteries for electric vehicles, energy storage and other applications, with its battery business centered on mainland China’s Pearl River Delta. It commissions manufacturers or agents to produce batteries, pays advances, then inspects and stores deliveries before shipping them to customers that placed orders. Nearly all revenue comes from reselling sourced equipment and accessories, including new-energy products, rather than its own products.

The company also sells and produces electric vehicles in Southeast Asia, including two-wheelers, three-wheeled scooters and low-speed vehicles. It plans to focus more on this business in the future.

Most sales come from a small group of customers, with the largest customer supplying a substantial share of revenue. Purchasing is also concentrated among a few suppliers, so filling orders depends on maintaining those relationships and obtaining goods on time at workable prices. Chinese rules limit subsidiary dividends to accumulated profits and restrict currency conversion and overseas remittances, which can limit the offshore parent’s access to cash earned in China.

Jiuzi Holdings’ results hinge on thin-margin resale orders and a concentrated group of unnamed customers and suppliers, not the automotive retailers that dominate the candidates for this list.
