Company

Company overview

Heron Therapeutics sells medicines that help patients manage the effects of chemotherapy and surgery. Most product revenue comes from oncology: CINVANTI and SUSTOL are used with other medicines to prevent chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting. A limited number of specialty distributors and full-line wholesalers buy Heron’s medicines and resell them to healthcare providers and hospitals.

Its acute-care business sells ZYNRELEF to manage pain after specified surgical procedures and APONVIE to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting. Crosslink Network is Heron’s exclusive U.S. co-promoter for ZYNRELEF, and Heron pays it agreed compensation.

Sales depend on healthcare providers choosing these medicines and government and private insurers providing adequate coverage and reimbursement. Heron has no manufacturing facilities of its own; it relies on a small number of contract manufacturers and single suppliers for some critical materials. Its products are approved for sale only in the United States, and it cannot promote them for uses outside their approved indications.
