Company overview

New Horizon Aircraft Ltd. has not yet generated revenue or begun commercial operations. Its Cavorite X7 is intended to carry people and cargo on regional routes, including emergency medical, disaster-response and military missions. Planned buyers include aircraft operators, lessors, government agencies and defense organizations; the company intends third-party carriers to operate the aircraft rather than run the transport services itself.

The aircraft uses electric fans inside its wings and forward control surfaces to lift off vertically. Once it reaches a safe speed, those surfaces close around the fans so it flies like a conventional airplane. The company calls this patented system the HOVR Wing and also sees potential to license its technology to other aircraft manufacturers.

The Cavorite X7 remains in development and has not completed flight testing or entered certification. Commercial use requires regulatory approval, while future sales depend on customer demand for this type of aircraft. With no customer revenue yet, the company funds development mainly through securities financing, supplemented by government-backed grants, and needs additional capital to support its longer-term plans.

  • Beta Technologies, Inc. competes for the commercial and military buyers Horizon hopes will purchase its Cavorite X7, with electric-powered aircraft aimed at cargo, medical, defense and eventual passenger missions. Watch BETA’s aircraft sales to cargo, medical and military customers for evidence of demand in markets Horizon plans to enter.

  • Archer Aviation competes with Horizon for commercial aircraft buyers and defense customers: both are developing aircraft that take off and land vertically using electric power, including hybrid-electric aircraft for defense. Watch Archer’s defense aircraft development with Anduril for progress in a customer market Horizon also targets with the Cavorite X7.

  • Vertical Aerospace Ltd. competes for the regional operators, business aviation customers and aircraft lessors Horizon plans to sell to, offering aircraft as alternatives to helicopters. Watch Vertical’s pre-orders from these buyers as a sign of their willingness to commit to new aircraft, rather than treating them as completed sales.

  • Joby Aviation overlaps with Horizon in electric aircraft for passenger transport and direct sales to aircraft buyers, including defense customers, but also plans to charge passengers for its own air taxi service. Watch Joby’s direct aircraft sales and potential defense applications for the closer comparison with Horizon’s planned Cavorite X7 sales.

  • Eve Holding, Inc. seeks the same kinds of aircraft buyers as Horizon—transport operators and lessors that buy aircraft for operators—but focuses on urban rather than regional routes. Watch whether Eve’s non-binding aircraft agreements become firm commitments for evidence of buyer demand, while keeping that route difference in mind.
