Company

Company overview

ZoomInfo Technologies helps sales, marketing, operations and recruiting teams identify organizations and people to contact, then manage that outreach. It gathers and cleans company and contact information, adds insights such as buying signals, and connects the data with customers’ existing systems. Products such as ZoomInfo Copilot help users turn that information into messages and sales activity; integrations with Salesforce and HubSpot put the data into systems customers already use.

Customers pay for platform access, which generates nearly all revenue. Subscription prices depend on the features, number of users and volume of data included. Customers typically pay in advance for each billing period. The business depends on winning customers, retaining their subscriptions and persuading them to add users, data or products.

Keeping information accurate and current is central to those renewals. ZoomInfo draws on outside sources and a network of contributors, including users of its free ZoomInfo Lite edition. Some customer contracts allow termination and reimbursement if data accuracy falls below an agreed standard. Privacy laws restrict how ZoomInfo can collect, use and transfer personal information, while individuals’ opt-outs can reduce the data available. Its connections to customer systems also depend on continued access from providers such as Salesforce.

ZoomInfo’s results hinge on business-to-business sales and marketing budgets and competition for prospect intelligence, including Dun & Bradstreet’s D&B Hoovers, which is missing from this list.

  • TechTarget, Inc. competes with ZoomInfo for technology vendors’ spending on data that identifies likely buyers, customer leads and sales intelligence. Watch its Demand & Intent offerings for signs of where those vendors are directing their marketing budgets.

  • HubSpot competes with ZoomInfo to sell sales outreach and marketing automation tools to sales and marketing teams, but ZoomInfo also adds data to HubSpot customer records. Changes to HubSpot’s integration access matter because they could disrupt that connection.

  • Definitive Healthcare Corp. competes with ZoomInfo for subscriptions to data that helps customers find prospects and run sales and marketing, with a focus on healthcare. Its subscription revenue is the line to watch for spending on this healthcare-focused alternative.

  • Salesforce competes with ZoomInfo to sell sales and marketing workflow software to business teams, while ZoomInfo supplies intelligence to Salesforce’s customer-record system, or CRM. Watch Salesforce’s rules for connecting outside software: withdrawing access would break that integration.

  • Microsoft competes with ZoomInfo for sales teams’ spending on tools to identify prospects through LinkedIn Sales Navigator. LinkedIn’s recruiting products also overlap with ZoomInfo Talent in serving recruiting teams.

  • Adobe competes with ZoomInfo for enterprise marketing budgets through Marketo Engage and marketing data applications, overlapping with ZoomInfo’s tools for automating marketing and targeting specific customer companies. Watch those offerings within Adobe’s Digital Experience business rather than its creative software.
