Global-E Online lets brands and retailers serve overseas shoppers without handling every part of an international sale themselves. Shoppers stay on the merchant’s website while Global-E works in the background, adapting prices and payment options to local markets, handling duties and taxes, and arranging delivery and returns. It collects shoppers’ payments and settles with merchants in their home currency. It also acts as the legal seller for transactions, a role called merchant of record.
Merchants pay a service fee tied to the value of goods sold and fees for fulfillment. Fulfillment provides slightly more than half of revenue, with service fees supplying the rest. Revenue therefore depends on merchants’ cross-border sales and whether they use Global-E for delivery as well as order processing. Shopify Managed Markets brings its services to Shopify merchants; Global-E is the exclusive provider for Shopify’s own Managed Markets offering, but not for third-party offerings on Shopify.
The business relies on access to e-commerce platforms and on outside payment processors and shipping partners. Most transactions use personal-import rules, with shoppers importing goods for their own use. Destination-country import restrictions, sanctions and export controls limit which transactions Global-E can support, while its legal-seller role brings product-safety and other compliance obligations.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Shopify is a paying route to merchants for Global-e: it sells commerce software and buys Global-e’s services to handle international sales, taxes and settlement behind its Managed Markets offering. Watch merchant adoption of Managed Markets 2.0, whose closer integration with Shopify’s payment processing may change Global-e’s revenue recognition and margins in this channel.
VTEX and Global-e both earn more as merchants’ online sales grow: VTEX charges online stores platform fees partly tied to sales value, while Global-e charges merchants for international order services and fulfillment. Watch sales growth at VTEX’s large customers, which accounted for 88.9% of its platform sales value in 2025, as a read on the online retail demand both businesses serve.
Commerce.com and Global-e serve different parts of merchants’ online expansion: Commerce.com sells BigCommerce storefront software, while Global-e earns fees for handling international pricing, payments, taxes and shipping behind merchants’ storefronts. BigCommerce adoption is worth watching for merchants’ investment in online stores, rather than as a direct measure of Global-e’s cross-border orders.
Klaviyo and Global-e depend on online retailers in different ways: retailers pay Klaviyo subscriptions for customer marketing through email and messaging, while their international orders generate service and fulfillment revenue for Global-e. Watch Klaviyo’s retail and e-commerce customer growth, rather than its total customer count, which also includes businesses outside retail.

Shopify’s report will show whether merchants are adopting Managed Markets, where Global-E Online Ltd. provides cross-border services, and how payment integration is affecting that business channel.
Look for Shopify’s disclosure on merchant adoption of Managed Markets 2.0, then read it alongside Global-E Online Ltd.’s revenue recognition and gross margin in this channel. Wider adoption with channel margins holding would suggest more merchants are using this cross-border sales route without losing its profit contribution. Limited adoption or margin pressure would point to constraints on the channel’s growth or economics; Shopify’s overall growth alone would not establish that Global-e is receiving more orders.

Global-E Online earns service fees and fulfillment revenue by handling merchants’ cross-border orders, and this report will show whether order growth is still producing gross profit and operating profit.
Read service-fee and fulfillment revenue growth alongside gross margin and operating profit. Growth in both revenue streams, with gross margin holding and operating profit positive, would show that more merchant orders still contribute profit after fulfillment costs. Slower revenue growth, a falling gross margin, or weaker operating profit would point to pressure on order volume or the economics of each order, so scaling may not translate into more profit.
