Company

Company overview

New Concept Energy earns significant income from interest on notes receivable—money owed to it under promissory notes—so interest rates affect those earnings. Most operating revenue comes from a tenant renting space in its industrial and office building in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The building is part of a larger property the company owns there.

The company no longer owns the oil and gas wells and mineral leases it sold in Ohio and West Virginia. It now provides advisory, accounting and management services to the wells’ current owner, which pays it a share of revenue from those wells. This smaller revenue stream depends on the wells’ sales and the agreement with that owner; either party can end the agreement with notice.

Know what’s buried in GBR’s filings before you buy

The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.

New Concept Energy Inc’s results depend chiefly on note interest and occupancy of its Parkersburg building, with a smaller contribution from revenue-linked fees for managing wells it sold in 2020.

  • American Realty Investors and New Concept Energy Inc both collect rent from property tenants and interest on receivables, exposing both to occupancy and interest rates; American Realty also discloses a $3.542 million New Concept loan tied to the SOFR interest-rate benchmark. Watch that loan’s rate alongside New Concept’s note interest income, which fell from $213,000 in 2024 to $169,000 in 2025 because of lower rates.

EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change (Oct/16)

New Concept Energy receives 10% of revenue from the oil and gas wells it manages for another owner, so EIA-reported crude and fuel stocks can affect oil prices, well sales revenue and the company’s fees.

  1. 2:00 PMET

    Fed Interest Rate Decision

New Concept Energy’s notes-receivable interest income changes with interest rates, so the Fed’s rate path can change what the company earns from those loans.
