Company

Company overview

Business customers pay UTime to make electronics to their specifications or to design and manufacture products for them. Tablets and laptops now bring in most revenue, replacing mobile phones as its sales focus. All reported revenue comes from these customer contracts; its own UTime and Do brands currently contribute none. Operations are based in China, and mainland Chinese customers account for most revenue, although most products are sold overseas.

The business depends on repeat orders from a small group of customers, led by Lishui Xinghuo Technology Co., Ltd., formerly Zhejiang Xinghuo Technology Co., Ltd. Customers make no long-term purchase commitments. UTime also relies on outside manufacturers for most products, so fulfilling orders depends on their capacity, quality and costs.

The Cayman Islands parent controls its main Chinese operations through contracts rather than equity ownership. Its access to those operations and their economic benefits depends on the enforceability of these arrangements under Chinese law. Chinese dividend and foreign-exchange rules also restrict how cash can reach the parent.

UTime’s results hinge on orders to design and make tablets and laptops for a concentrated group of Chinese customers, including Lishui Xinghuo Technology, and on chip costs—not on the businesses of the supplied candidates.
