Fortive serves businesses that need to keep equipment working, manage facilities and protect workers. This business generates most of its revenue: customers buy instruments to measure and monitor equipment, along with software and services to organize maintenance, manage assets and meet safety requirements.
A smaller healthcare business sells to healthcare providers that need to sterilize and track instruments, test medical equipment and manage clinical work. Across both businesses, product and software sales provide most revenue, with services contributing the rest. Some software is sold through subscriptions, generally paid upfront for the service term.
Some Fortive businesses sell significant volumes through key distributors and channel partners, making those partners’ purchasing decisions and customer relationships important. Demand also partly depends on safety regulations and industry standards. Some healthcare products are regulated medical devices, so Fortive must obtain required clearances or approvals and comply with manufacturing and marketing rules to sell them.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
STERIS competes with Fortive for healthcare providers’ spending on sterilization equipment and infection prevention. Watch STERIS’s sterilizer sales and pricing alongside Fortive’s sterilization demand, which weakened in 2025.
AMETEK competes with Fortive for industrial measurement and radiation-measurement spending by process, power and safety customers. Its electronic-instrument business is the part to watch for demand in the process and power markets that both companies serve.
Teledyne competes with Fortive for industrial customers buying tools for inspection, measurement and safety monitoring. Watch its imaging cameras and monitoring instruments rather than its aerospace and defense electronics for the closer comparison with Fortive’s tools.
Mirion Technologies directly competes with Fortive’s Fluke radiation-safety products and Landauer services that measure workers’ radiation exposure, known as occupational dosimetry. Watch Mirion’s radiation-monitoring sales to nuclear and industrial customers and its worker-exposure services for medical customers; these are the businesses closest to Fortive’s offerings.
Solventum competes for healthcare providers’ sterilization spending with products that check sterilization effectiveness and help prevent infection, while Fortive supplies sterilization equipment and related solutions. Watch these products within Solventum’s MedSurg business, rather than its dental or documentation software sales.
Ralliant and Fortive both depend on industrial and electrical users’ measurement spending: Ralliant sells precision measurement and grid-monitoring systems, while Fortive sells maintenance and condition-monitoring tools. Ralliant’s industrial-electronics testing and transformer-health monitoring are the areas to watch for that shared demand.
Mesa Laboratories overlaps with Fortive in healthcare sterilization and biomedical testing, selling sterilization-control and calibration products where Fortive supplies sterilization equipment and biomedical test tools. Mesa’s Sterilization and Disinfection Control and Calibration Solutions divisions offer the closest comparison, rather than its company-wide sales.
Applied Industrial Technologies shares Fortive’s exposure to plant maintenance activity: it supplies maintenance products and technical services to plants whose teams also use Fortive’s measurement and condition-monitoring tools. Watch Applied’s maintenance-product and repair-service demand for a read on those customers’ upkeep spending.
Teledyne Technologies Incorporated earningsTDY
Teledyne’s imaging-camera and monitoring-instrument sales will show whether industrial customers are spending on inspection, measurement and safety tools that overlap with Fortive’s instruments.
Focus on Teledyne’s imaging cameras and monitoring instruments, not its aerospace and defense electronics. Stronger sales in those products would point to continued industrial spending on inspection and monitoring equipment, a supportive demand backdrop for Fortive’s overlapping tools. Weaker sales would signal pressure in that market, but would not prove Fortive’s sales are falling. The report is a read on the industrial-instrument market, not a substitute for Fortive’s own results.
Applied Industrial Technologies, Inc. earningsAIT
Applied Industrial Technologies’ maintenance-product and repair-service demand will show whether plants are keeping up their equipment spending, a clue to activity among customers who also use Fortive’s measurement and condition-monitoring tools.
See whether demand for Applied Industrial Technologies’ maintenance products and repair services moves in the same direction. Strength in both would suggest plants are maintaining equipment, supporting activity among customers for Fortive’s related tools; weakness in both would point to tighter upkeep spending and a more cautious demand backdrop for Fortive. The companies sell different products, so this is a read on shared customers’ maintenance budgets, not a direct measure of Fortive sales.
Mirion Technologies, Inc. earningsMIR
Mirion Technologies, Inc.’s radiation-monitoring sales and worker-exposure services overlap directly with Fortive’s radiation-safety instruments and occupational dosimetry, showing how demand is moving in those markets.
Read Mirion Technologies, Inc.’s radiation-monitoring sales to nuclear and industrial customers separately from its worker-exposure services for medical customers. Strength in both would support demand across markets that overlap with Fortive’s offerings; mixed results mean the customer groups and uses are moving differently; weakness in both would point to pressure across those shared markets. This shows the market backdrop, not Fortive’s own sales.
Fortive Corporation earningsThis company
Fortive’s report will show whether customers are buying more of its industrial tools and healthcare solutions, and whether pricing is keeping pace with pressure on volume and service costs.
Read core revenue growth for Intelligent Operating Solutions (IOS) and Advanced Healthcare Solutions (AHS) alongside volume and pricing, then check each segment’s operating margin. If volume improves, core growth broadens and margins hold, demand is contributing more than price increases and Fortive is turning sales into profit. If growth still relies mainly on pricing while volume stays weak or margins fall, customer demand or the cost of serving it is still weighing on the business. Together, these figures show how solid the growth is.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
Fortive’s interest-rate decisions matter because they influence what the company pays to borrow, including on its $3.2 billion of long-term debt and $650 million of commercial paper, and can change its interest expense.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
Higher rates can increase interest expense on Fortive’s debt that reprices and on new borrowing, leaving less cash available for its businesses and other financial needs.
If it comes in below expectations
Lower rates can reduce interest expense on Fortive’s debt that reprices and on new borrowing, leaving more cash available for its businesses and other financial needs.
STERIS plc earningsSTE
STERIS’s sterilizer sales and pricing will show how healthcare providers are spending on equipment in the market where it competes with Fortive’s sterilization business.
Read STERIS’s sterilizer sales alongside pricing. Stronger sales with prices holding would suggest healthcare providers are sustaining equipment demand, a firmer market for Fortive’s sterilization business too. Weak sales or price pressure would point to continued caution in provider spending and a tighter competitive market for Fortive. The companies’ products and customers are not identical, so this is a read on their shared market, not a verdict on Fortive’s results.
