Company

Company overview

Daktronics supplies the scoreboards and large video displays that sports venues use to show scores, video and advertising. Sports and live-event markets account for most sales. It also supplies commercial displays, including Galaxy signs and digital billboards, and transportation displays such as Vanguard message signs for roads. Most revenue comes from customers in the United States.

Customers pay for standard equipment or custom systems that combine displays with controls and software. These product sales provide most revenue; installation, maintenance, technical support and software provide additional income. Daktronics sells large integrated systems mainly through its own sales staff, while resellers also carry its products. Large projects often involve customer down payments or progress payments as Daktronics buys components and completes the work.

The customer base is broad rather than dependent on a few buyers, but business volume depends on the size and timing of large projects and sports and construction seasons. Production also relies on some single-source components in a global supply chain. Certain overseas shipments require export licenses or verified exemptions, and international sales must comply with export controls and economic sanctions.
