Company

Company overview

Cuprina Holdings (Cayman) Limited supplies MEDIFLY dressings for chronic wounds that need dead tissue removed. It breeds sterile blowfly larvae in its Singapore laboratory and makes dressings to clinicians’ orders. A licensed clinician prescribes the treatment, and a trained healthcare professional applies it. Hospitals and clinics, mainly in Singapore, buy the products directly; Advanced Biotech and Engineering Limited distributes them exclusively in Hong Kong. MEDIFLY supplies most of the company’s revenue.

A smaller business sells consumer skin and muscle-care products, including MEND Skin Restoration Balm, through retailers, gyms and online platforms such as Shopee. Third-party manufacturers make these products. All revenue comes from product sales, while operations also rely on IPO funding, shareholder support and bank loans.

A small group of customers, mainly Singapore hospitals, supplies most of the revenue, with one customer contributing a substantial share. Sales depend on clinicians choosing the treatment and on insurance reimbursement. MEDIFLY’s very short shelf life makes timely production and delivery essential. Medical-product sales require market-specific regulatory authorization; MEDIFLY’s US FDA clearance remains pending.

Cuprina’s results hinge chiefly on clinicians adopting MEDIFLY in Singapore and Hong Kong, with ConvaTec and Mölnlycke important wound-care rivals to watch beyond this list.

  • Smith & Nephew competes for healthcare providers’ treatment choices, selling wound-care technologies against Cuprina’s MEDIFLY dressings, which use live larvae to remove dead tissue from chronic wounds. Watch its clinical evidence and support for getting treatments reimbursed: both matter to providers choosing between wound-care products.
