Company

Company overview

Cerenome develops medicines that deliver targeted radiation to cancers, particularly those affecting the brain and spinal cord. Its lead candidate, rhenium (186Re) obisbemeda, remains in clinical development. CPRIT research grants pay part of the cost of developing it for cancer that has spread to the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Access to that funding depends on matching funds, trial progress and compliance with conditions that include maintaining its headquarters in Texas. Its investigational treatments cannot be marketed without the applicable regulatory approval or clearance.

The company also offers CNSide testing through its CNSide Diagnostics laboratory in Houston. These tests detect, count and characterize cancer cells in cerebrospinal fluid. Agreements with UnitedHealthcare and Humana expand access for insured patients, but test revenue depends on clinicians ordering it and insurers covering and adequately reimbursing it. The laboratory must maintain federal testing standards and applicable state licenses.

Cerenome is still an early-stage business with limited revenue. Research grants and outside financing support its operations, and it needs additional capital to continue development and commercialize CNSide.

CNSY says it has a moat. Does it hold up?

  • Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited competes with Cerenome in glioblastoma: its TLX-101 and Cerenome’s Reyobiq are investigational drugs that deliver radiation to treat the cancer. Watch TLX-101 trial news rather than Telix’s sales growth, which comes mainly from prostate-cancer imaging agents Illuccix and Gozellix supplied through commercial and hospital radiopharmacies.

  • NovoCure Limited already sells Optune Gio for recurrent glioblastoma, the disease Cerenome targets with its investigational rhenium obisbemeda treatment; Gio uses a wearable device to deliver electric fields rather than a radioactive drug. Watch Gio patient starts and treatment duration, which drive the active-patient base and revenue of this competing treatment.

  • Radiopharm Theranostics Limited and Cerenome both develop drugs that deliver radiation to solid tumors, so clinical results and investment in radiopharmaceuticals matter to both. Radiopharm has no products approved for sale: watch its solid-tumor trials and approval progress, not product revenue.

  • Cellectar Biosciences INC NEW shares Cerenome’s exposure to clinical success and financing for drugs that carry radioactive isotopes to cancer cells, rather than conventional radiation equipment. Its iodine-131 drug iopofosine I 131 is the program to watch for progress in beta-emitting cancer treatments, a treatment type both companies develop.

  • Perspective Therapeutics, Inc. and Cerenome both depend on clinical progress and financing for targeted radioactive cancer drugs, though Perspective uses peptides to deliver alpha radiation while Cerenome develops rhenium therapies. Watch Perspective’s alpha-therapy trials rather than its revenue: in 2024 and 2025, its grant revenue came from work for the National Institutes of Health, with no alpha-therapy product sales.
