Individuals and households supply most of Chunghwa Telecom’s revenue, paying for mobile plans, home broadband and other communications services, as well as buying smartphones. Fixed-line and mobile services together generate most of its revenue. Its HiNet brand provides internet connectivity, while fixed-line services also include telephone calls and dedicated voice and data connections. Almost all revenue comes from Taiwan.
Businesses are its second major customer group. Beyond connectivity, Chunghwa Telecom provides data centers, cloud services and cybersecurity, and combines these with other technologies into customized systems. Customers pay both for individual projects and for ongoing services, making the enterprise business more than a seller of telephone and internet connections.
The business depends on retaining subscribers, encouraging upgrades to faster broadband and mobile plans, and investing in network capacity. It also needs government licenses and spectrum rights to operate. Taiwan’s National Communications Commission imposes special controls on several of its fixed-line and voice-access services, including price controls and mandatory fee reductions that limit its freedom to raise prices.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Chunghwa Telecom’s results hinge mainly on Taiwan’s mobile and broadband upgrades and enterprise ICT demand, with Far EasTone a key local rival missing from this list.
SK Telecom offers a regional operating comparison for Chunghwa Telecom: both combine leading mobile networks with broadband and television services for households and communications services for businesses. Watch SK Telecom’s mobile-data and broadband business as a comparison for Chunghwa’s 5G upgrades and broadband growth, which partly offsets declining fixed-line voice revenue.

Chunghwa Telecom’s report will show whether revenue from mobile, broadband and ICT services can offset declining traditional voice revenue and the cost of network investment.
Read total revenue alongside operating margin. Revenue growth with a steady or rising margin would show that mobile, broadband and ICT gains are absorbing the decline in voice services and network investment costs. Weaker revenue or a falling margin would show those gains are not enough to cover the pressure.

SK Telecom’s report will show whether households are using more or less mobile data and broadband, offering a regional demand comparison for Chunghwa Telecom’s businesses.
Look at whether SK Telecom’s mobile-data and broadband businesses are both growing. Strength in both would point to supportive regional demand for services Chunghwa Telecom also sells as it upgrades 5G and grows broadband; weakness in both would suggest softer demand in those shared businesses, but would not establish Chunghwa’s own results.
