Nuburu, Inc. is building systems for military, government and civilian customers that combine lasers, electronic warfare and software to address security and critical-infrastructure needs. Its software is intended to coordinate equipment and information across these systems. If the offerings reach commercial use, customers would pay to license technology, subscribe to software or have Nuburu integrate systems for their needs.
The company previously focused on blue lasers for industrial production. After secured lenders took its patent portfolio through foreclosure, it retained trade secrets and engineering know-how and ended internal U.S. manufacturing. It now relies on subsidiaries and industrial partners: Lyocon supports laser engineering, prototyping and testing in Italy, while Tekne provides access to manufacturing and integration capacity. Nuburu’s planned acquisition of control of Tekne still requires Italian government and stockholder approvals.
Nuburu has not yet generated meaningful operating revenue and has funded the business through debt and equity. Commercialization depends on lengthy customer evaluations, technical validation and partner execution; government business also depends on procurement funding and approvals. Export controls and sanctions restrict which customers and countries it can serve.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
With no revenue in 2025, Nuburu's results hinge on turning its new defense platform into a commercial business and making partner-based manufacturing work through Lyocon, Tekne and other industrial partners.
Laser Photonics Corporation competes with Nuburu in industrial laser technology and is developing an anti-drone laser system that overlaps Nuburu's planned directed-energy defense offerings. It sells equipment directly to small and medium-sized businesses; watch development of its Laser Shield Anti-Drone System, whose prototype has been tested, as a gauge of competition facing Nuburu's defense push.

Laser Photonics’ report will show whether its anti-drone laser is moving from prototype toward customer sales, revealing how directly it may compete with Nuburu’s planned directed-energy defense offerings.
Look for evidence that the anti-drone system is moving beyond prototype testing toward commercial sales, alongside equipment sales. Customer purchases would show that an industrial laser seller is bringing a tested system to market, making competition for Nuburu’s planned directed-energy defense offerings more immediate. If development remains at the prototype stage and sales show little progress, that pressure is less immediate.
