Company

Company overview

Biote Corp. provides mainly U.S. clinics with training, software and ongoing support for hormone-replacement therapy using hormone pellets. Its Biote Method helps practitioners evaluate treatment options and manage their practices, but practitioners make the medical decisions. Clinics pay fees associated with pellet procedures recorded in Biote’s software. These fees cover the support package and pellet costs and supply most of the company’s revenue.

Biote also sells Biote-branded dietary supplements, mainly to partnered clinics that resell them to patients. Patients can also buy through practitioner-branded online stores. This smaller revenue stream depends heavily on practitioners recommending the products; the broader business depends on clinics and patients continuing to use the Biote Method. Products recommended through the method are typically not covered by insurance.

Biote-owned Asteria Health manufactures most of the hormone pellets used by its certified practitioners, with AnazaoHealth and Carie Boyd’s Prescription Shop supplying additional pellets. These compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and their supply depends on facilities meeting federal and state requirements. U.S. law also prohibits anyone other than the compounding outsourcing facility from selling or transferring its compounded drugs.

    Fed Interest Rate Decision

The Fed’s decision on its benchmark interest rate matters to Biote because economy-wide rates affect what it pays on its variable-rate borrowing, leaving more or less cash for clinic support and other operations.
