Most of Bridgford Foods’ revenue comes from meat snacks such as beef jerky, dry sausage and salami sold to retailers. It manufactures nearly all its products and delivers snacks either to retailers’ warehouses or directly to stores, where its delivery staff also maintain displays and restock shelves. Its smaller frozen-food business sells products such as bread and roll dough through distributors, mainly for food-service customers rather than retail shoppers.
Walmart is its largest customer and supplies a substantial share of revenue; Dollar General is another major customer. Keeping these retail relationships and securing shelf placement matter because many snack purchases are made on impulse.
Profitability depends heavily on the cost and availability of pork, beef and flour. Product prices change less frequently than commodity prices, so higher ingredient costs can squeeze margins before Bridgford raises selling prices. Its food operations also require ongoing inspections and compliance with USDA and FDA rules, including sanitation and pathogen controls. Losing required permits could prevent it from supplying customers.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Bridgford’s results hinge on retailers’ food purchases and meat costs, with Walmart alone contributing 33.5% of fiscal 2025 revenue.
Dollar General’s purchasing decisions matter to Bridgford: the retailer buys its food products to sell alongside everyday necessities in small stores and accounted for 14.2% of Bridgford’s fiscal 2025 revenue. Watch changes in its Bridgford purchases or demands for lower prices and more promotions, which can hurt Bridgford’s sales or profitability.
EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change (Oct/16)
The EIA report tracks US crude oil and gasoline inventories, which can signal fuel-price changes; those prices affect what Bridgford pays to transport frozen foods and deliver snacks to stores and warehouses.
Larger crude and gasoline inventories suggest looser supply and potentially lower fuel costs for Bridgford’s deliveries; smaller inventories suggest tighter supply and potentially higher costs.
Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Fed decision tracks the cost of borrowing across the economy, which can change what Bridgford pays on its SOFR-linked credit line and any additional borrowing for inventory to fill customer orders.
Expected4.0%Last release4.0%
If it comes in above expectations
If the policy rate is above the estimate, Bridgford could pay more interest on variable-rate credit-line borrowing, leaving less cash for inventory and other operating needs.
If it comes in below expectations
If the policy rate is below the estimate, interest on variable-rate credit-line borrowing could be lower, leaving Bridgford more cash for inventory and other operating needs.
JOLTs Job Openings (Sep)
JOLTS counts job openings, a measure of employers’ demand for workers; that demand can affect Bridgford’s ability to staff food processing and delivery and the wages it pays.
Expected7.0MLast release7.079M
If it comes in above expectations
If job openings are above the estimate, a tighter labor market could make it harder for Bridgford to staff production and delivery roles, increasing wage costs or limiting efficient production.
If it comes in below expectations
If the reading is below the 7.0M estimate, it is below the previous 7.079M. If job openings are below the estimate, a looser labor market could ease hiring and wage pressure for Bridgford, helping it staff production and delivery more efficiently.
Retail Sales MoM (Oct)
Retail sales track consumer spending at stores, and because retailers generated most of Bridgford’s sales—including its private-label snacks—changes in store demand can affect how much customers buy from Bridgford.
Stronger retail sales point to firmer consumer spending that could support orders for Bridgford’s retail foods; weaker sales point to softer demand that could reduce those orders.
Dollar General Corp. earningsDG
Dollar General’s report will show how demand for affordable everyday goods is shaping the retailer’s food business and whether this customer, which accounted for 14.2% of Bridgford’s fiscal 2025 revenue, may press for lower prices or more promotions.
Read Dollar General’s food sales alongside its reliance on discounts and promotions. Steady food sales without greater promotional pressure would suggest affordable-goods demand is supporting its purchases, with less pressure on Bridgford’s sales and margins. Weaker food sales or heavier discounting would suggest more pressure for lower prices or reduced orders, putting Bridgford’s revenue and profitability at greater risk.
