Aemetis’s Keyes plant in California supplies most of the company’s revenue. It processes corn into ethanol for blending with gasoline and sells the remaining material as animal feed. J.D. Heiskell buys nearly all of the plant’s ethanol and feed products, then resells them through Aemetis’s designated marketers: Murex for ethanol and A.L. Gilbert for wet distillers grains. Heiskell also supplies corn and working capital; Aemetis receives product-sale proceeds net of corn purchases. The plant depends on this relationship, and Aemetis may buy feedstock elsewhere only under specified conditions.
In India, its Kakinada plant turns fats and oils into biodiesel sold mainly to government oil marketing companies Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil Corporation for blending with diesel. It also refines a biodiesel byproduct into glycerin for industrial customers. This business depends on those oil companies’ tenders and purchase contracts.
Aemetis also collects gas produced from dairy manure in California, upgrades it into renewable natural gas and sends it into the utility pipeline for transportation use through fuel-dispensing companies. Most revenue from this business comes from selling the associated federal renewable-fuel credits and California low-carbon fuel credits through brokers, rather than from the gas itself.
Fuel-plant earnings depend on selling prices relative to feedstock and energy costs. Government blending mandates support fuel demand, while credit rules and market prices underpin the dairy-gas business. The Riverbank sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel plant remains under development, not an operating fuel business.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Aemetis also depends materially on Indian biodiesel tenders and purchases by Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil Corporation, none of which appears in this list.
Alto Ingredients competes with Aemetis in renewable fuel alcohols and feed coproducts, with its Western production overlapping Aemetis’s California ethanol and local dairy-feed business. Watch Alto’s Western renewable-fuel and ingredient sales rather than its specialty-alcohol business for the closer comparison.
Green Plains competes with Aemetis in corn-based fuel ethanol, distillers feed and corn oil; its Midwest plants supply the markets where Aemetis faces imported ethanol and feed products in California. Watch its ethanol and coproduct sales for a view of the competing supply facing Aemetis’s fuel sales and local dairy and feedlot customers.
REX American Resources earns income from stakes in fuel-ethanol producers that compete with Aemetis, and both businesses’ margins depend on ethanol prices relative to corn costs. Watch the ethanol earnings of REX’s investments as a comparison for the price-and-cost pressure on Aemetis’s Keyes plant.
Gevo and Aemetis share exposure to low-carbon fuel demand and the value of credits and tax incentives, with overlapping renewable natural gas and sustainable aviation fuel opportunities. Gevo’s revenue from selling fuels and their carbon benefits is the comparison to watch for Aemetis’s transportation-gas business and planned Riverbank fuel plant.
Clean Energy Fuels competes with Aemetis in selling renewable natural gas for vehicles and the environmental credits it generates, whose values depend on renewable-fuel rules. Watch its fleet-fueling and credit sales: those credits arise when gas reaches vehicle tanks, and D3 RIN and California LCFS credit sales supplied most of Aemetis’s dairy RNG revenue in 2025.
Future Fuel Corporation offers a comparison for Aemetis’s biodiesel business, but principally sells into the United States while Aemetis supplies Indian oil marketing companies. Focus on FutureFuel’s Biofuels results rather than its Chemicals business, which generated 62% of its 2025 revenue; Aemetis runs its Indian biodiesel plant only when it expects positive gross margins.
EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change (Oct/16)
This EIA release tracks US crude oil and gasoline inventories; tighter stocks can support petroleum and gasoline prices, which may lift demand and prices for Aemetis’s Keyes ethanol relative to corn and energy costs.
Read the inventory direction as a signal for the petroleum and gasoline market: larger stocks suggest looser supply and possible pressure on Keyes ethanol demand or prices, while smaller stocks suggest tighter supply and possible support; either way, Aemetis’s spread also depends on corn and energy costs.
Alto Ingredients, Inc. earningsALTO
Alto Ingredients’ report will show how Western buyers are taking renewable fuel alcohol and feed coproducts, the same markets where Aemetis’s Keyes plant sells.
Focus on Alto’s Western renewable-fuel and feed coproduct sales, not its specialty-alcohol business. Stronger sales of both products would show that buyers are taking product in this shared market, but would also mean a stronger competitor for Aemetis; weaker sales could ease competing supply while signaling softer demand for ethanol and feed. The distinction tells readers whether Keyes faces more competition or a weaker market for its own products.
Aemetis, Inc. earningsThis company
Aemetis’s report will show how sales and production costs at its Keyes ethanol plant, California dairy RNG business and India biodiesel plant shape the company’s results.
Pair Keyes ethanol and coproduct volumes and selling prices with corn and energy costs: steady sales and wider spreads would show the plant turning production into more gross profit, while falling volumes or narrower spreads would leave less room to absorb costs. Then compare dairy RNG sales with sales of D3 RINs and California Low Carbon Fuel Standard credits, tradable credits tied to clean-fuel rules; these credits supplied much of the segment’s revenue in 2025, so weaker credit sales would leave gas sales carrying more of the load. For India biodiesel, compare sales volumes and product revenue with feedstock costs: improvement would support continued production, while deterioration would add pressure. Together, these figures show whether Aemetis’s businesses can support themselves through product sales and margins or remain reliant on credit revenue and favorable spreads.
Clean Energy Fuels Corp. earningsCLNE
Clean Energy Fuels’ report will show whether fleets are using renewable natural gas and whether the related credits are selling, two parts of Aemetis’s dairy RNG revenue path.
Read Clean Energy Fuels’ fleet-fueling or fuel sales alongside its credit sales. Growth in both would show support from vehicle RNG demand and the sale of related credits; steady fuel sales but weaker credit sales would show that gas use does not guarantee the same credit income. Aemetis injects RNG into a utility pipeline for transportation customers, and most of its dairy RNG revenue in 2025 came from D3 RIN and California Low Carbon Fuel Standard credit sales. Together, these measures show whether both fuel demand and credit sales support Aemetis’s revenue path.
Future Fuel Corporation earningsFF
Future Fuel Corporation’s Biofuels results will show U.S. biodiesel sales and cost pressure, offering a comparison for Aemetis’s supplies to Indian oil marketing companies.
Use Future Fuel Corporation’s Biofuels results, not its Chemicals business. Compare biofuel sales and revenue with feedstock costs and gross margin: stronger sales and margins would show healthier U.S. biodiesel economics, while weaker figures would point to less room between product prices and input costs. Aemetis sells to Indian oil marketing companies, so the markets are not the same and these results cannot establish Indian order demand. They do show whether the broader biodiesel economics look more or less supportive of Aemetis earning a positive margin in India.
Gevo, Inc. earningsGEVO
Gevo’s report will show whether buyers are paying for low-carbon fuels and their carbon benefits, a market signal for Aemetis’s planned Riverbank fuel plant.
Look at whether Gevo is generating sales from fuels and from their carbon benefits. Growth in both would show buyers for low-carbon fuels and a way to turn their carbon value into revenue, a supportive market signal for Aemetis’s planned Riverbank sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel plant. Weaker fuel or carbon-benefit sales would point to a harder market. Gevo’s results cannot show whether Aemetis will complete or profit from its project, but they help readers judge the market support it would face.
