Aircraft and drone makers buy Amprius Technologies’ batteries to power their aircraft, including high-altitude platforms. Its cells use silicon rather than conventional graphite in the anode; the company says this allows them to store more energy for their weight. Customers include AALTO Airbus and AeroVironment. Battery sales provide nearly all customer revenue, with SiCore its principal commercial product line. Customers also pay for design work and prototype cells adapted to their requirements. Amprius is not currently producing batteries for electric vehicles.
SiCore relies on proprietary materials from Berzelius and contract manufacturers in countries including China and South Korea. Amprius therefore depends on these partners for materials and finished batteries. Its Berzelius supply agreement leaves commercial terms to separately agreed purchase orders rather than guaranteeing them in advance. Sales also lean heavily on existing customers expanding their orders, and one unnamed customer supplies a substantial share of revenue.
Defense work carries sourcing restrictions: under its Defense Innovation Unit program, Amprius must source or qualify battery components from suppliers compliant with the National Defense Authorization Act. International shipments are also subject to export controls and sanctions, which can require licenses for particular products, destinations or uses.
The risk section is the longest, dullest part of the filing. This keeps only what can really hurt you: where it hits, how hard, when it plays out.
Every company claims an edge. Each one is checked against hard numbers like margins and returns: which hold, and which line gives way first.
Watch private supplier Berzelius: Amprius depends on it for SiCore silicon-anode materials and battery supply, making it important to growth and manufacturing economics.
Enovix Corporation competes with Amprius for aviation and defense battery customers, though its silicon-anode batteries focus more on consumer electronics. Watch its aviation and defense business rather than smartphone cells for the clearest overlap with Amprius.
SES AI Corporation competes with Amprius to supply high-performance battery cells to drone and other electric-aircraft manufacturers. Its drone-cell business is the part to watch for competition with Amprius, rather than its energy-storage systems or software.
AeroVironment buys Amprius batteries designed into its unmanned aircraft programs, giving Amprius a route into a defense business selling mainly under U.S. government contracts. Watch those aircraft programs for signals about demand for Amprius cells, rather than AeroVironment's broader space and cyber business.
Red Cat Holdings, Inc. shares Amprius's exposure to military drone procurement: Red Cat sells tactical drones to defense customers, while Amprius supplies batteries used mainly in unmanned aviation, including defense programs. Watch Red Cat's tactical-aircraft sales to U.S. military agencies as a sign of demand in that shared market, not as evidence of orders for Amprius.
Unusual Machines, Inc. shares Amprius's exposure to small-drone production and demand for defense-compliant components: it sells drone parts, while Amprius supplies drone batteries and must qualify components for U.S. defense opportunities. Watch its enterprise component sales, which became its primary revenue driver in 2025, rather than consumer sales through Rotor Riot.
Teledyne Technologies' FLIR business uses Amprius batteries designed into its unmanned aircraft programs, making it a customer within Teledyne's much broader industrial and defense technology business. Watch FLIR's unmanned aircraft programs for clues to Amprius battery demand, rather than Teledyne's overall sales.
Amprius Technologies, Inc. earningsThis company
Amprius earns revenue by selling batteries and providing custom design services, and this report will show whether battery sales are translating into better gross margins.
Read battery-product sales alongside gross margin. Rising sales with a wider margin would show that shipments are translating into better reported economics; rising sales with a narrower margin would show that more volume is not yet improving profitability. Also check whether revenue remains concentrated in a small number of customers: growth led by one large customer would mean the expansion is not yet broad-based.
SES AI Corporation earningsSES
SES AI's report on its drone-cell business will show whether demand is growing in the high-performance aviation battery market where it competes with Amprius.
Look for SES AI's disclosed drone-cell sales or customer-program progress. If that business expands, it confirms demand in a market Amprius targets, while showing a competing cell maker gaining ground; if it stalls, that points to a weaker market signal, not proof that orders are going to Amprius. The takeaway is whether Amprius faces a growing pool of buyers and a stronger rival, or market interest that has yet to turn into orders.
AeroVironment, Inc. earningsAVAV
AeroVironment's report will show how its unmanned-aircraft programs that use Amprius batteries are progressing, giving a direct clue to demand for Amprius cells.
Watch AeroVironment's unmanned-aircraft orders and delivery progress, especially in programs using Amprius batteries. More orders in those programs would suggest defense procurement could support demand for Amprius cells; fewer orders or delays would mean a weaker near-term demand signal. Aircraft orders are not battery orders, so the conclusion is a clue about customer demand, not confirmation of Amprius shipments.
