Company

Company overview

Almonty Industries currently earns almost all its revenue from the Panasqueira Mine in Portugal. It extracts ore, processes it into tungsten concentrate and ships it to customers in the tungsten industry. Copper and tin concentrates produced alongside tungsten add revenue. Most operating revenue comes from a U.S.-based customer, within a concentrated customer base of two buyers and their affiliates. Almonty depends on these sales to meet current obligations.

Prices outside fixed-price contracts follow market quotations for ammonium paratungstate, or APT, a processed tungsten product used as a pricing benchmark. What Almonty earns therefore depends on tungsten prices, how much saleable concentrate it recovers from ore and its mining and processing costs.

At Sangdong in South Korea, mining has begun but the processing plant remains in commissioning. A supply agreement with Global Tungsten & Powders Corp. (GTP) and its parent, Plansee Holding AG, covers the mine’s tungsten concentrate. Almonty expects to depend economically on GTP once commercial concentrate production is established; sales depend on delivering the agreed quantities and quality. Mining and development also require Almonty to obtain and maintain government permits and comply with their operating restrictions.

Almonty's results hinge on tungsten prices and Sangdong's production ramp, with Global Tungsten & Powders, owned by Plansee Holding, the key customer contracted to buy Sangdong's output.

  • Guardian Metal Resources PLC's Nevada tungsten projects depend on the same tungsten market that drives Almonty's mine sales, but Guardian has no mineral-production revenue or binding agreement with a buyer. Progress at Pilot Mountain and Tempiute offers a view of potential U.S. tungsten supply, not current customer demand.

  • United States Antimony and Almonty both supply Western buyers with strategic metals whose availability is affected by China's export restrictions. United States Antimony processes and sells antimony products, while Almonty mines and sells tungsten, so the shared issue is secure supply rather than the same metal price.

  • MP Materials and Almonty both have exposure to buyers' efforts to replace Chinese critical-mineral supply. MP Materials produces rare-earth materials and magnets, while Almonty sells tungsten concentrate, so demand for non-Chinese supply connects them rather than demand for the same product.

    Fed Interest Rate Decision

For Almonty, the Fed’s decision on short-term U.S. borrowing costs matters because higher rates can raise interest on its floating-rate SOFR-linked debt, reducing cash left for its mines and development.

MP Materials’ report will show whether buyers’ push for non-Chinese critical-mineral supply extends beyond its rare-earth products and supports the broader demand backdrop for Almonty Industries Inc.’s tungsten concentrate.
