Verizon sells mobile service and home internet, including fixed wireless, which connects homes through cellular networks. Comcast recently reported further broadband customer losses and investment in pricing and service. Verizon provides the wireless side of that competitive picture: are customer additions producing worthwhile revenue, or do providers need increasingly expensive promotions to win and retain them?[1]
Separate home internet from mobile service and compare net customer additions, customer losses, revenue per customer and promotional costs. Growth backed by revenue and cash could support wireless-provider stocks while increasing pressure on cable rivals. Growth bought with deeper discounts could instead squeeze profitability across home internet. Watch network spending and competitors' offers; the two companies' reports cannot establish that Comcast's lost customers moved to Verizon.[1]
