AI-driven expansion of advanced-chip production is opening up more revenue opportunities for the equipment suppliers behind it.
Dutch chipmaking-equipment supplier ASM International forecast on October 27 that fourth-quarter revenue would exceed market expectations. It said AI-related investment in production capacity was driving growth and expected to reach its 2030 sales goal in 2027, three years early.[1]
In its third-quarter results announcement, the company reported record quarterly revenue driven by growth in leading-edge chipmaking—production using the most advanced manufacturing processes. It forecast 2027 revenue above €5.7 billion.[2]
The chain starts with chipmakers: to meet demand for AI chips, they invest in more production capacity, increasing demand for manufacturing equipment. ASM's higher revenue outlook indicates that this investment is creating a larger sales opportunity for equipment suppliers.[3]
Suppliers serving advanced-chip production have the most direct exposure. ASM's accelerated sales timetable supports the demand outlook for that segment; other suppliers' gains depend on whether customers' expansion plans require their equipment and when spending turns into sales.[1][2]
