The forecast supports the demand outlook for memory suppliers, but does not imply that rivals will achieve comparable growth.
Chinese memory-chip maker CXMT expects more than eightfold revenue growth and says rapidly growing demand for artificial-intelligence computing power has boosted the DRAM industry. DRAM, or dynamic random-access memory, temporarily holds the data processors are working with.[1]
The forecast comes amid a memory supply squeeze. It is an expectation for revenue growth, not a reported growth result.[1]
More AI computing creates demand for memory in the systems doing that work. If supply cannot keep up, memory suppliers may benefit through both higher sales volumes and stronger pricing power. CXMT's forecast supports that demand channel, but does not by itself distinguish growth from higher prices, more shipments or market-share gains.[1]
